reason for name dream for her silver pelt reminiscent of the stars above where starclan warriors roam and visit living cats in dreams. (idk). and -star because she's a leader. formerly - feather for her grace in battle and all things.

appearance description

dreamstar is a well-built as well as very attractive she-cat. she is tall and lean with short silver fur and intense blue eyes. her pelt is covered with black tabby markings, and she has some rather intricate markings on her forehead as well.

personality

This cunning and ambitious she-cat knows how to take charge of a situation and moons of watching her predecessor, Voidstar, have taught her well how to lead. Though she is clan leader now, she has not lost her ambitious streak, and will not back down from a challenge either of her own leadership or from another clan. Yes, Dreamstar may be one of the seniors in the clan, but she is still hot-headed and aggressive. She won't take anyone badmouthing her or trying to frighten her. She worked hard to get to the top and no one is going to push her around now. 

Dreamstar is not a very wise cat, and so she tends to not think very much about her actions. She may start a battle or border skirmish that is unnecessary, or make an impulsive decision. Dreamstar tends to be a fight first and ask questions later kind of girl, and this is somewhat dangerous for the clan without having older, wiser cats to council her temper. Dreamstar may be reckless, but she does very much value every member of her clan, from the tiny kits, the nursing queens, bumbling apprentices, warriors, the elders, etc. There is no rank or position in the clan that she thinks is unimportant- she knows just how important it is to care for every cat and make sure that their needs are met. 

In the past Dreamstar was known for being somewhat divisive and having a grudge against non-Tempestclan cats, but luckily this has faded over time. She still doesn't trust Vertigoclan cats of course, and would be unlikely to befriend one. But she no longer resents others simply for not being full clan-blood, and holds no special dislike of rogues and kittypets. Yes, she thinks carefully about which to let into the clan- not every soft kittypet can survive as a warrior. But she does not openly despise or choose to make war against those with mixed clan backgrounds.

Dreamstar has never had a particularly strong link to Starclan, so she knows just how important council with her medicine cat is. She understands that a connection to Starclan is important for her clanmates, even if it may not be particularly important for her. Dreamstar knows what to do to keep her clan comfortable and happy, and overall, this makes her a powerful yet loving leader. Tempestclan cats are known for their cunning, and Dreamstar is nothing if not cunning. Still, she has also grown up a lot from her time as the deputy, and has learned to be compassionate and warm-hearted. Her soft-spot for the underdog has blossomed and she is understanding of others weaknesses. At times, Dreamstar can be downright parental.

experience

dreamkit was born to littlebreeze and his mate, her mother russetclaw. she had two brothers, hailkit and blazekit. her mom was an arrogant, aggressive she-cat with a deep red tabby pelt and green eyes, whereas her father was an undersized tom-cat that was much older than russetclaw, with gray and white fur and blue eyes. littlebreeze had been a proud warrior when he was younger, but he had softened with age to become a wise, gentle tom-cat that taught his firstborn daughter everything she knows about patience and forethought. some said that in his old age his big blue eyes began to go blind, but if that's true he never complained.

when dreampaw was made an apprentice, she was given to ________ to be trained, though nowadays she often refers to voidstar as her mentor. she and voidpaw, the future clan leader, grew up together, playmates and oftentimes it seemed like a bit more, too. her friends even teased her that voidpaw was going to ask her to be his mate when she became a warrior. she and voidpaw would go out hunting together, they would train together with their mentors, and they would share freshkill together in the evenings. the two cats were quite close until later in dreampaw's apprenticeship when her mother russetclaw betrayed the clan by leading hostile rogues to the camp and then disappearing after the ensuing fight. this caused dreampaw to shut down quite a bit and develop a lot of issues with rogues and non-clan blooded cats, as well as outsiders of any kind. she and voidpaw didn't talk for a while, and their distance was only increased by the death of dreampaw's brother, blazepaw, by means of a fox. dreampaw kept herself away from everyone and began to spend most of her time in the medicine cat's den with her ailing father. some even thought that perhaps she might choose to train as a medicine cat apprentice instead of a warrior, due to how familiar she became with the herbs used to treat littlebreeze.

despite her father's illness, dreampaw soon became a warrior called dreamfeather. though she had been rowdy with puffy silver fur as an apprentice, the many changes in her life as well as in her biology had caused her to grow into a more solemn, beautiful she-cat. voidpaw became a warrior named voidstrike, but she lost track of him for a while, as reclusive as she became. it was around the time that she was 17 moons old that her half siblings, icekit and silverkit, were born to the mate her father took after russetclaw's disappearance. unfortunately, littlebreeze died soon afterward and never got to know his newborn daughter and son. 

the death of her father and brother as well as her lingering anger over her mother's betrayal drove dreamfeather. when her old friend, now named voidstrike, became deputy after the death of the elderly second-in-command, she realized what path she was meant to follow and worked harder than ever. she trained her first apprentice to be a fine warrior, and began to blossom into a very valuable addition to tempestclan's warrior force herself. many a tom took notice of her beauty, but she hardly seemed to notice, not even when voidstrike himself flirted with her. she was an incredibly ambitious and single minded warrior and her old flame saw this, appointing her as his deputy when he finally became leader. once again, the two grew close as they dealt with voidstar's brother shard, rogue kits, and general tempestclan drama. for a time they knew each other as lovers, though things were certainly complicated by a tom known as longshadow who had slowly fallen for her as well. knowing that, as a female deputy, she couldn't risk taking a mate and losing her position or worse pissing her clan leader off, dreamfeather was forced to ignore longshadow and instead sought comfort from the tom that she had known since she was a kit.

dreamfeather's first interaction with longshadow had been in guarding a rogue queen that had sought shelter from the clan. though the tom questioned voidstar's loyalty and ruffled her fur, causing dreamfeather to leap to her leader's defense, they soon met again late at night in the territory. longshadow began to pine for dreamfeather and strangely, she became attracted to the mysterious, mean-spirited tom as well. 

when dreamfeather's young cousins, splashkit and jaykit, were to become apprentices she requested that voidstar make splashkit her best friend's apprentice to be sure the weak young she-cat became a proper warrior. she also chose to mentor jaypaw herself, though she often found herself distasteful of the bitter young tom's attitude. later, she caught splashpaw meeting with a vertigoclan apprentice at the border and was outraged, taking her cousin back to camp with her and forbidding the two from seeing each other again. however, there was little she could do when splashmist left tempestclan forever and joined her new mate, duneshade, in vertigoclan. during this period of time the clans were joined together temporarily as they journeyed out of their flooded, destroyed homelands and to a new place. voidstar was on his last life at the time and she remained close to his side the entire way, guarding him as best as she could, though she was forced to watch the tom grow sick just as her father had. when her best friend, islandsplash, went missing in the floods, she begged voidstar to go back but she knew that they couldn't risk it; if she had died, and then something had happened to voidstar, tempestclan would have been left leaderless. so, with a heavy heart she helped lead tempestclan to their new home. 

there, in the new lands, splashmist gave birth to two sons, mottledkit and scorchkit, kin of dreamfeather. this was unknown to her at the time. dreamfeather guarded voidstar's side as he refused to rest and be cared for by the medicine cat. many border skirmishes erupted between the two clans as they tried to work out what the new lands would be and how they would be divided. in one, voidstar, stubbornly refusing to back down, was wounded badly. dreamfeather helped him back to camp after her warriors had finally chased off the vertigoclan patrol, but it was too late; he'd bled out too much. shortly after the battle, he lost his last life in tempestclan's camp, watched over by his friend, deputy, and lover, dreamfeather. her clanmates gathered around as well, though she hardly noticed them there as she witnessed voidstar dying, and she didn't speak as each cat touched their nose to the leader's fur a last time. feeling hollowed by the loss she grieved as much and more than any cat in the clan. she took voidstar's body out and found a dry spot in the fen to bury him, then sat vigil for as long as she could, trying to gather her strength. however, she couldn't mourn for long as tempestclan needed a leader and a new deputy had to be chosen before moonhigh. so she pulled herself together and finally went to confront the mysterious cats that had deigned to give their power to her predecessor, voidstar.

finally, exhausted from her trek, the fight that seemed like it had happened moons ago, and the death of her friend, the new leader made her way into tempestclan's camp to be greeted by her new name. dreamstar quickly chose her new deputy, pinewhisker. several moons into her leadership she asked longshadow to be her mate, having lost one lover and given up all hope on seeing the other, her best friend islandsplash. she continued to work tirelessly to keep her clan together, taking on another apprentice, ivypaw. her two half-siblings, now warriors silvertide and icetalon, continued to look up to and respect her in her role as clan leader. sometime later, she and her friend islandsplash reunited after the half-clan warrior's disappearance in the floods.
