personalityDeerleap was never the most friendly creature. She isn't mean, but she can be a bit prickly at the first meeting. She was always an independent cat, never relying on others to please her or do things for her. She takes pride in her ability to rely on herself. She is reluctant to rely on anyone else to get the job done. She is a firm believer in hard work and 'if you want to get the job done right, do it yourself'.
She has a very sensible and realistic view of things. She takes things as she gets them and doesn't try to change them. She likes to say she has a good head on her shoulders, and though she is practical and a realist, she is not levelheaded in any way. She's got a fiery temper and shows terrible sense of judgment most times. She's terribly impulsive and never thinks before she acts. She rarely knows when to shut her mouth, which can get her in trouble. She says its just being honest, but she takes her 'honesty' a little too far. She's very defensive of her opinions and actions. She hates being wrong but she hates when others point it out even more. Along with her work ethic, she prides herself with being tough, mentally and physically.
Despite her rough demeanor, she has a soft side to her. She hates to admit it, but she is a romantic at heart. She has a tiny spark of optimism in the dark, private recesses in her heart that she'll find someone that she'll love like her mother did. Though she resents her mother for not taking as good care of her kits as se should have, she envies how much her parents loved each other. She is also quite compassionate and empathetic. She doesn't particularly care what others think of her, but if she is close to them, she does care how they feel. She is very trusting of those close to her.

experiencePondfeather swore she lived to love Coyoteheart. She loved him with all he being. She thought kits would make her happy, but she was separated from Coyoteheart, which she disliked. She cared for her kits, but she took every opportunity to leave the nursery that she could. Deerkit didn't mind at first, but her mother started leaving more and when she did come back she was in a foul mood. Deerkit was silent and brooding whenever she was her mother. They never had a good relationship.
But where she lacked affection from her mother, her sister more than made up for it. Though Deerkit was mean to her and constantly picked on her, Shadekit loved her and would have done anything for her. Shadekit was silly and could be ditzy, and she drove Deerkit absolutely nuts, but her outstanding faith in her sister and her loyalty made Deerkit come to cherish her company.
As an apprentice, Deerpaw had become volatile, cruel, and punishing to her self image. She was never doing enough to make herself happy. She always thought she could do more, or do better. She worked hard in training. She criticized Shadepaw as well, who continued to take the verbal beating Deerpaw gave her. Shadepaw distanced herself. She always looked up to Deerpaw and wanted to be like her. But she started to see the worst of her and kept away from her. Deerpaw started to notice, but she didn't say anything about it. After near a moon, it really started to bother her. She realized that Shadepaw was her best friend. Well, her only friend, but her best one too. She was too proud to apologize though. They continued in icy silence for a few moons, but reconnected the last moon of apprenticeship. Deerpaw had become lonely. She missed her sister's constant company. She decided to patch things up, and Shadepaw was more than happy to comply. They were made warriors soon after.
Warriorhood, so far, for the young warrior, has been easy. She hasn't liked sharing a den with her parents, but she has loved everything else about being a warrior. She is slightly envious that Shadelily is attracting suitors, but she's also very protective of her sister.
