reason for name badger -- his black & white coloring ; strike -- speed and battle aptitude 

appearance description

badgerstrike is a relatively average sized cat. his muscles are well defined beneath his coat, but his overall build is rather stocky and compact. he's a bit longer than most cats, but he's rather skinny around the midsection, having all of his girth around his front haunches. his coat is always compact and sleek, much like an ancient riverclan cats, which also gives him the appearance of being a bit smaller than he actually is. while his size doesn't give him much of an advantage in battle, his paws are small, and he's able to coil himself up well, in order to gain speed and evasion. 

being a black and white cat, he has all the regular colourings of a tuxedo cat. the black of his coat is a deep, dark midnight black, although sometimes appearing slightly brown in the light, and his white is the complete contrast- stark, pure, snow white. his face is mostly black, but splits down the middle just above the bridge of his nose, which almost looks as if a zipper is being undone, backward. the rest of his face from his nose down is white, much like his paws and underbelly. the tip of his tail has a white streak running along it from the 3/4 quarter mark to the tip, but it's not noticeable in the dark.

perhaps the most intimidating of badgerstrike's appearance are his eyes, which are a startling yellow. they have flecks of sliver in them, as well as flecks of a darker amber or gold. they take up a decent portion of his face, making it appear smaller than it is. some might call him 'cute,' but that's not advised against- it might earn you a tongue-lashing.

personality

badgerstrike is a lot like the shadowclan leader, blackstar. he tends to be quite temperamental, which can be a bit of a problem at times. he's quick to judge, and has a hard time admitting that he's wrong. he will apologize if he knows he's in the wrong, but it won't be a good apology, and he certainly won't like it. he's not quite as ruthless as blackstar- he actually has some caring feelings inside of him. but his desire to be independent (aside from his clan) creates a lot of conflict between him and those he chooses to be his companions. he's quick to anger, as mentioned before, and is fiercely protective of his reputations, and his loved ones, and the defense of his clan.

he relies heavily on intimidation, though his size doesn't always warrant what he wants. he might have a bit of a hot-headed side to himself, too, though he tries hard to control it when it comes to boasting. his egotism sometimes annoys others, but it's not something that he can easily help. most cats stick around for his clever wit and great conversational skills. most cats look to him for his ability to stay calm and ambassadorial when need to be. he's excellent at bargaining, and he often finds his mind getting ahead of his mouth.

he's extremely self conscious of his sometimes femme face, his size, and while he likes to use them to establish authority and intimidation factors, he's actually quite off-put by cats staring or mentioning them. his boastful nature may get rather annoying, but it's all with good intent.

experience

badgerfoot was born with a brother, coalfur, in a simple litter of two. his father was all black, much like his brother, and his mother was a tuxedo, like him. both parents were supportive from the start, though his mother favored his brother a lot of the time. during his apprenticeship, he often found his brother receiving all of the praise, so he made his own and sought approval from the rest of the clan, which might explain his boastful behavior. his apprentice training went smoothly, though his brothers was delayed due to an injury during training practice. after they both became warriors, badgerstrike found himself admiring his leader and deputy, his ambition growing for leadership, while his brothers grew for family.


he received his first apprentice earlier in his warriorship than most, though nobody questioned his ability to teach. his apprentice, mothshine, was eager to learn and full of spunk, so she often fought with her mentor, though the two got along very well. badgerstrike actually began bonding with his apprentice, though he soon found himself in the midst of a clearing listening to her confession of love. knowing it was wrong somehow, badgerstrike gently rejected her, and continued to train her from an unbiased standpoint, becoming harder and colder on her. she completed her training smoothly, though she had new scorn for her mentor. badgerstrike often thought about confessing back once she became a warrior, but his fervor for his reputation kept him from doing so.


this, unfortunately, was one of badgerstrike's biggest regrets in his life thus far. only several moons after mothshine became a warrior, she was struck by a falling tree during a patrol. as soon as badgerstrike heard, he raced to help her, along with his clanmates. they all attempted to remove the branch from atop of her, but in the end, she used all of her strength struggling, and died right in front of badgerstrike. in the last few seconds before her death, he struggled with the idea of confessing, so she could go in peace- for he knew she still had unrequited love. but he didn't.


to this day, he still loves mothshine, and the idea of a family or mate does not sit heavy in his heart like it might have back in the day. he doesn't believe in family, he's a bit of a sinner that way, but he does have a special place in his heart for his niece/nephew, who's became an orphan after her mother died giving birth to her, and coalfur was killed in battle. he raises her like she's his own, though he knows it's not the same.


note: I'll be using this to try out for deputy, though I'd like this bio accepted as a warrior so I may roleplay him.
