The morning was finally beginning to feel like a day when Rustlepaw finally finished cleaning out the elders den. It had taken him longer than most apprentices because he saw two spiders and had to leave the area before he had an anxiety attack. The elders just sneered at him for being too "kittypet" to get the job done in time, but they were spiders. Rustlepaw couldn't stand spiders. They gave an unpleasant tingle in his fur. But after clearing out the elders' den and the nursery before that, Rustlepaw realized he's been in the camp quite a long time.

He didn't know if Jetfang wanted to train him today or not, but he was feeling kind of bored to be honest. His sisters have been out having fun all day, at least, he thought they were. They may have not been. He didn't hear Shadedpaw get up this morning, but apparently she'd been up faster than Firepaw, which doesn't happen too often. Firepaw too was out before him to train with Flamingstar which she wouldn't shut up about. It was getting kind of annoying, even for Firepaw.

But Rustlepaw let her go on and on about her mentor because that's how Firepaw was. Rustlepaw had asked Lilythorn earlier if she knew where Jetfang was, but Lilythorn was too tired to really talk and Rustlepaw was left without an answer. He didn't care what he had to do today, hopefully nothing resorting to birds or spiders, or ledges, or heights, or water, but he was feeling quite lonely.

Rustlepaw finally padded over to the warriors den and tried to sniff out his mentor. As he's circling the den, a twig snapped behind him and Rustlepaw let out a hideous shriek and puffed up his fur before sinking to the ground and covering his ears with his paws.

jetfang lightly rolled his son blizzardkit off of his head, and dislodged pallidkit from his tail fur, giving a mrrrow of laughter as he plopped the two light-colored balls of fur down beside their mother, despite protests. "i need to take rustlepaw out hunting, but i promise i'll be back as soon as i can," he told his sons, nuzzling lilythorn and flicking her ear with his tail. hopefully they'll be too tired out to bother lily while i'm gone. 

he saw as soon as he exited the nursery that he was in luck. rustlepaw was padding around the warrior's den, nose to the ground, apparently unaware of his surroundings. jetfang frowned at the young tom, but didn't think much of walking up to him in camp, since they were in camp which was assumedly a place that rustlepaw felt safe. assumedly. as jetfang approached the red-tinted tom, a small twig under his big black and white paws snapped audibly, unnoticed by jetfang but apparently not by his apprentice, as the tom let out a loud cry and dove for cover.

"rustlepaw!" his mismatched eyes widened as he stared at the much smaller ball of puffed up fur before him. "it's just me! jetfang. you know, your mentor." he fell into a crouch and an easy smile lit up his features, whiskers twitching. "if you're feeling up to it, i thought maybe we might go out and hunt. you can always use more training and the clan can always use more fresh kill." he glanced off towards the nursery that he had just left, where all seemed quiet. "besides, i need a rest from my trio of ankle biters," he joked, hoping to put rustlepaw at ease.
