The orange, black, and red tri colored she-cat laid outside the warriors den. A mouse laid at her paws. It had been a day since that horrible at Dawn Patrol. Her yellow eyes were narrowed. She was clearly still upset over what the stupid tom Lionwhisker had said to her. She had kept to her words. She had no so much spoken or looked hisway.


As she finished eating, Hollybreeze began to groom herself after a long day of patrolling and kit sitting for the queens. Five rowdy tom kits was a pawful but she loved them. She licked her paws and dragged them over her ears. Her glaze began hatefil as she felt another cats present.

Pawsteps sounded through the forest, the sound of thrumming pawsteps on the undergrowth echoing. A ginger tom was flying through the forest as if a dog were after his tail, his paws barely skirting the ground. He felt as if he had all of StarClsn at his side, guiding him to wherever he was supposed to be. The forest seemed to loom on endlessly in front of him, and he didn't think twice to keep going. As the wind tugged at his fur, the tom noticed a change in scents, his nose twitching with the new arrivals. A wave of emotion washed over him as he realized what the scents were. He slowed his pace to a trot, which led to an eventual pause, where his whiskers quivered with anticipation. A she-cat formed in front of him, her figure starry and washed out. But as her scent wafted through his nose, tickling the inside with the sweet aroma of the nursery, the tom know who she was. Mom. He thought, taking a step forward to greet her.


As she opened her maw to speak, a crack of darkness sliced clean through the world, swallowing up the she-cat and the greenery whole. The tom didn't have time to react, before the scents were yanked away, and the feeling of the ground beneath his paws became nothing but dense, cold, and uncomfortable. The tom flitted his eyes open slowly, knowing his adventure was nothing but a dream. It hadn't even actually been his mother, the tom knew that. Sadness enveloped him, but he pushed it back, staggering to his paws. He trod toward the den entrance, accidentally stepping on a clanmates tail. Not bothering with an apology, the tom burst into the camp, screwing up his face as the sun cascaded into his eyes.


He ruffled his fur, which appeared golden in the light. Closing his eyes, he let the small breeze tousle his coat softly for a moment, before trudging onward. He glanced toward the fresh-kill pile, but the sight of food made his stomach churn. He walked with heavy shoulders, every pawstep feeling like a burden, until he sat down just a few paces from the entrance. A tri-colored she-cat melted into his vision, the tom hoping he hadn't stepped on her during his haste making to exit the den. Glancing at her, he flicked his tail. Civility was a must. "Good morning, Hollybreeze." He said gruffly, only able to recall slight portions of their arguments in his morning haze.

Her glaze shifted to a glare as the tom stumbled out of the den. She held back the growl that was forming in her throat. Did he not understand what he had said hurt her? His words were just a repeat again of the first offense. She turned her head away from the golden tabby and began to clean her side, but the more she thought about it, the more she got angry again. She whipped her head around and stared at the tabby tom.


"Why are you talking to me? Remember I am just a rogue!" She spat at the tabby. Her paw tingled with frustration as she dug her claws into the ground. "Why don't you listen to what I said and leave me alone unless ordered to hunt or patrol together. In all honestly I don't need your company if you are just going to treat me horrible!" She snarled. Did she feel bad for her words, sure especially since Lionwhisker looked like he saw a ghost, but it was not enough for her to forgive his harsh words to her.

The world was still slightly fuzzy, the tendrils of sleep not yet letting go of the ginger tom. He blinked as the tortoiseshell started to speak, his ears just barely registering her tone as that of a pissed off she-cat. It was like the world was in slow motion, until suddenly, it became HD. Her voice became shrill, her eyes blazing, and her fur stood in rows along her back like spikes. The tom had to concentrate to keep himself from flinching- he hadn't expected that kind of reaction from the normally docile she-cat. Perhaps he ought to have known better from their previous encounters, but his dream-like state had given him the disadvantage. 

Her words pierced through his brain, his head suddenly aching. He flattened his ears, instantly crouching into a defensive stance. He continued to listen, narrowing his eyes, as the she-cat reamed him. "Why are you talking to me? Remember I am just a rogue!" Lionwhisker held himself as she spat the angry words at him. He flicked his tail in minor irritation. "Would you prefer I trample over you without an apology?" He asked blatantly. Of course, the she-cat had been right about his accusation. He had said that- twice now. But he had brushed off the horrid experience from the patrol with his brother and she-cat before him long ago.  He watched her, unmoving, as she continued to rant for a moment. As it ended, he stood up from his position, looming over her as she sprawled out in front of her. "You're a bit sensitive, you know that?" He asked, turning his back on her and padding several pawsteps away.

He picked out a small vole from the fresh-kill pile, setting it in front of his paws as he settled back down. He hadn't been hungry before, but now he really wasn't hungry. But he couldn't show the she-cat that she had gotten to him- even if just the slightest. As he forced himself to take a bite, he contemplated his lack of attitude and passion to fight. If Tigerstorm had been awake to witness the lack of scathing replies from the ginger tom, he would have been worried. The tom gave a heavy sigh, unable to force another bite. Perhaps it was his shit-head apprentice, Redpaw. They had quite the skirmish the other day, when she left camp and deliberately disobeyed him- multiple times. To add injury to insult, she had continued to argue with him. Since then he had only spoken to her for the necessary training, and even then, it was a pain in the ass. Perhaps apathetic is the new temperamental. He thought.

Hollybreeze growled at the tom, "You can take your apologies to someone who cares, because I do not!" Her tail lashed angerily at the though of the tom wanting to apologize for the same actions again. "Your apologies mean nothing anyway. You will just call me a rogue again when your temper is flaring again!"


Her ears flatten at the tom as she watched him take one bite. It was clear he was not hungry,  but yet trying to prove a point. At him callingbher sensitive again, she hissed. Then, her glaze turned away from the tabby tom. "I am sensitive on this, because if I don't belong here, I belong no where! My rogue parents left me to die as a kit. This clan saved me and you and others don't seem to get it through your thick skulls that I would do the same even if it meant my death. One day you will see that and eat your words." She spoke with venom in her voice.

The tom sighed. What a bitch. He thought silently, though he couldn't help but smirk a little at his own humor. He waited for the fellow warrior to stop yowling at him before he smoothed his fur and shrugged. "I will take my apologies. Because I sure as hell didn't give them to you." He said nonchalantly, waving his tail. Although his hunger was still clearly suppressed, the tom nudged the vole closer to himself, and took another meager bite. Forcing a swallow, he craned his neck to smooth out the fur along his flank, disheveled from the long nights sleep. As he was cleaning, he noticed to she-cat speak up again. He perked his ears to catch what she said. In all honesty, he had stopped caring quite a bit ago. The she-cat was fussing over nothing. If she would just stop being so sensitive, they wouldn't have a problem.


"This clan saved me and you and others don't seem to get it through your thick skulls that I would do the same even if it meant my death. One day you will see that and eat your words." Lionwhisker glanced back at the she-cat, a smug smile crossing his face. "Why eat my words when I can eat prey?" He said. At that, he swiveled his head back ground, not wanting to get into an argument. He was a jerk, he could admit that. Tigerstorm told him on a daily basis. But he wasn't an idiot, and only an idiot would keep verbal combat with the she-cat right now. He was pretty sure she would start foaming at the mouth if given a chance.

This tom was brainless, careless, and hopeless.  She glared back at him. Her glaze was blazing with anger and frustration.  "Good! Like I said it would be pointless anyway. You all seem to care about yourself and sometimes Tigerstripe." She stood up to walk away. She could not bare the thought of him much longer. Her heart ached at his words and actions. Was he really that blind.


Right when she was about to back aw a y from him, his next comment made her whiskers twitch with slight amusement.  She was annoyed that she found that slightly funny even though it was a jab at her. "Well seeing as you seem to be struggling eating your prey, it would be damn near impossible for you to admit you were wrong. I don't understand why I get my hopes up when it comes to you. You just take them and crush them."

The tom flicked his ears at the she-cats last words. He got her hopes up? His tail, which had previously been waving in irritation, suddenly stopped. He twitched his whiskers, sensing a pause in her movement, as though she intended to hear his replies. Lionwhisker thought about his reply, trying to word it right, but not quite knowing what to say. "You say I get your hopes up," He said slowly. "But I thought you didn't care what I thought." He finished. That is what the she-cat had said, after all. As she continued on, the tom huffed. "You don't understand? I don't understand why you say I have your hopes. I've done nothing but insult you since our meeting at the border." He huffed, keeping his fur flat. There was no challenge in his voice- no sense of argument or hostility. It wasn't worth it at this point. "Though if we're being totally honest here, you might as well confess, because you haven't been able to truly walk away from me since we met."Yeah, he was being a bit cocky, but who cared?

Hollybreeze glared at the tom as he spoke again. "You are really dense, you know." Her head swung away from the tom as he kept talking. He's right she might as well. "Well, I like you more then I should, because you've been nothing but horrible to me." Hollybreeze pushed up onto her paws.


He wrapped his tail around her paws as her yellow glaze stared into his blue. "At this point, I don't see a point in even trying anymore. I should save myself the heartache.  Heck I should listen to Splashmist and try to get along with Tigerstripe. " she knew she threw in a low blow, but didn't care. He wants to be an ass, so can she.
