She'd slept in. Okay, she'd really slept in. So what if she hadn't been on the moon-high patrol? Or the dawn patrol? Ivypaw didn't understand why she had to sort through the freshkill pile! There might be disgusting pieces of prey. The pretty gray she-cat shuddered, her lime green eyes rolling skyward. Of course Orchidpaw had gotten up early for no reason and went out hunting before her mentor even started looking for her, but not every cat could be as perfect as she was. Ivypaw scowled.

But just then, as in a silent answer to her prayers - whoever she was praying to, even she didn't know - the familiar silver form of her best friend came sauntering on into camp, and a wicked smile appeared upon the young apprentice's face. She darted over to Snowpaw and stopped just short of running into her. "Hey." She panted, pausing to catch her breath. "Dreamstar said to buddy up with you and sort through the freshkill pile. You up for it now?" Ivypaw didn't flinch, nor did she dare say that they - well, she - had to do it now, not later.

what a day! excitement was pulsing through the little she-cats pelt like electric currents. yeah she had kept it together in the presence of that tom, but now that she was away from him she wanted to scream. in a good way. because heck that was fun! perhaps it was just adrenaline making her loopy, but she sure had a dumb grin on her pretty white face. she hardly even felt the muddy streaks in her pelt now, since she'd so successfully captured the attention of a fairly handsome older tom- of the other clan, no less! boy was she feeling like hot shit as she trotted into camp, head held high (mostly to keep the frog in her mouth from brushing the ground, but you know).

in an instant, ivypaw was in her face- quite literally. snowpaw gave a surprised peep and dropped her frog. when she had gathered her bearings, she picked up her frog and glared at her friend. "pffft. yeah right lazy bones, dreamstar's got nothing against me." snowpaw laughed- but sorting fresh kill wasn't her least favorite chore, and she desperately needed to gush to her friend, so she shrugged. "i'm a perfect angel! you know that. but fine, i'll help ya lazy bones." she brushed past the gray apprentice and flicked her nose with her ashy colored tailtip, "hurry up! i got juicy gossip for your lucky little ears!"

She raised a skeptical brow as her friend made quite a remarkable noise. It was silly, really. Wasn't she used to Ivypaw sneaking, well, rather noticeably, up to her by now? The she-cat glanced down at the frog that bounced, quite sickeningly, off the ground, and met Snowpaw's glare with innocent eyes and a smirk. But then her friend was teasing her, and the she-cat returned the other's glare. "Not yet." Ivypaw grumbled, rolling her eyes as her friend stated that she was a perfect angel. That's why there was a faint twinge of VertigoClan in her fur, right?

Ivypaw followed after her, ears perking up as Snowpaw mentioned having some gossip for her. The she-cat slunk on up to the freshkill pile, glancing around them and ensuring that no one was in earshot. "So? Spill." The she-cat demanded, her eyes bright as her paws moved to grab an older looking piece of prey. Should she mention the VertigoClan scent? Maybe she'd just strayed too close to the border. That was probably it.

the pale she-cat laughed out loud at this one, because how true was that? dreamstar probably just wasn't keeping close enough tabs on snowpaw to realize how terribly lazy she was. or like... the fact that she was just flirting with some random dude. whatever, she thought she could keep up a damn cute charade for her leader. for her own benefit of course! as long as aunt silvertide didn't go on a rant or anything- at least she wasn't dreamstar's apprentice! really snowpaw pitied her friend for that- the darker apprentice couldn't get away with anything. tragic really. "yeah okay not yet, so i'll sort your nasty crowfood to stay in her majesty's good graces! duhh." snowpaw snorted, sitting down her frog in one spot, and batting a yucky old mouse into ivypaw's pile with a grimace.

"okay! so get this, i was honestly truly minding my own freakin business when some totally hunky dude busts out of no where and starts flirting with me like we're best pals!" snowpaw was talking in hushed tones but she couldn't help giggling. "he was some vertigoclan warrior i guess. didn't catch his name. i'll point him out if we get to go to the next gathering together for sure. but for a big fluffy brute hes actually super cute. pretty eyes ya know?" she flicked her tail and smiled, rather pleased with herself. cuz how often did someone like her get to meet a fresh face and enjoy it?

ivypaw cracked a smile. "thanks, snowpaw." she grinned, her eyes flashing mischievously at her friend. ivypaw rolled over a crow and groaned when it wasn't fresh. it wasn't disgusting yet, but the she-cat knew that it would be in a day, and that the ungrateful little bastards in the apprentice den would try to give it to the elders. 'idiots.' she thought. in her time spent caring for them, she'd become closer to them, heard most of their stories, and even cared for some of them.

ivypaw's eyes flicked over to snowpaw as she began to speak quietly. "right, just like you always do." she said with a giggle snort. her jaw didn't drop at the fact that a tom had been flirting with her - snowpaw was pretty! 'way prettier than me,' she noted silently, her gaze shifting back to the freshkill pile as she kicked pieces of prey to the side and into the small discard pile. ivypaw looked back up at snowpaw, her brows raised. "cool." she said uneasily. "um, you do know you can totally still scent vertigoclan on you, right?" ivypaw whispered softly but urgently. "but that does sound like fun. i guess vertigoclan is kind of friendly, what with them accepting all kinds of riff-raff into the clan. i mean, that's just what the warriors and elders say, but i guess we've always been rivals, so that's probably not too true." ivypaw rattled, pondering about this tom. she wasn't jealous - at least, she didn't think she was - and she honestly hoped snowpaw didn't think anything would come of this one time spent flirting. "so are you ever going to see him again?" the patched gray she-cat teased her, eyes twinkling despite her inner-nervousness.

snowpaw more or less expected no excitement from her friend at this juicy tidbit, but still! "ugggghhhh, you're such a poop!" she groaned with much exaggeration, nudging ivypaw with a giggle. she cringed as they got to the bottom of the pile and she drew out a wad of something stinky- probably contaminating the other bits of prey around it. she quickly flicked it to the side and shrugged carelessly, "what? 'snowpaw you smell like vertigoclan!! traitor!!' c'mon." she mocked the made-up authorities in a silly deep voice, teasing her friend for her worries.

"listen, dork, i'm not tryna run off and have his babies, alright? it was just something that happened today y'know? whats got you so uptight today? dreamy been rubbing your fur the wrong way more than usual or what? you got a fella on your mind too dontcha!!" snowpaw brainlessly prattled on, not all too concerned about her friend. she was apt to be like this, especially doing chores. snowpaw couldn't really blame her, although she thought ivypaw could do to be a bit more nosy. or at least ask what he looked like! snowpaw sniffed and flicked her tail, "if we're all at a gathering together i'll be sure to point him out to you."

"so i've been told. by you. on countless occasions." ivypaw mmurmured, nose wrinkling as snowpaw dug out a juicy piece of nastiness. "yeee-uckk." the small gray she-cat emoted, making a gagging expression before double checking the pile for anything else that needed disposed of. her bright green gaze rolled skyward before focusing back on her silvery companion. "ah, yes, such a traitor. my exact words indeed." ivypaw teased back, snorting.

at the mention of babies, ivypaw burst out laughing. babies! the thought was ridiculous. "are you sure? you look a bit engorged with kits. how soon's the kitting? just wondering so i won't be present. blood is gross." she teased, eyes twinkling with mischief. "so are kits, for that matter." ivypaw added, looking thoughtful. would she ever had kits? the tempestuous she-cat couldn't help but snort at her own thoughts. that required a living, breathing tom to - oh, what was snowpaw going on about now?

"a- a fella?!" ivypaw flushed at a nearly violent level. "wh-who has time for toms? especially when dreamstar's breathing down your neck ready to punish you at every turn!" the she-cat huffed, glancing around as if the silver femme was nearby, constantly watching. at the mention of a gathering, ivypaw's face lit up. "i'd nearly forgotten about gatherings! yes, you'll have to point him out!" she mewed more excitedly. "what does he look like, anyway? probably missing a limb and never washes, especially if you thought he was interesting." ivypaw flicked snowpaw back with her tail playfully.
