"And to be honest," a voice echoed faintly around the rocky surroundings, as the young she-cat continued to march towards the trees, "how is training even worth it? I mean, all you get to do is hunt mice and track foxes and gossip about TempestClan. But you don't get to fight them. You have to fight your clanmates and keep your claws sheathed as if it's a mock battle and we're all still in the nursery." Glancing over her shoulder, the grey-blue apprentice checked that Greypaw was still following, then continued to bounce briskly through the path of stones, eager to be surrounded by the lush vegetation of the woods, where their voices would be muffled, their words hidden from eager ears. "How is that any fun? And I know what you'll say, 'it's not all about fun'. But that's not the case. It's about experience. I don't need some pretentious cat to hover over me all the time, I could learn all of this stuff by myself!" She sighed, slowing her pace as Greypaw caught up. "So could you." Red eyes glimmering in the pale sunlight, she nudged her littermate before setting off in the direction of the forest again. The apprentice could feel rough grass under her paws now, and she allowed herself to slow to a steady trot, while she anticipated Greypaw's response. She was aware that perhaps her sister was getting what she'd hoped for out of warrior training, and that she was perfectly content with her mentor, but Redpaw wouldn't be distracted by that. The she-cat had convinced herself that all it took was to keep rumbling for long enough, until eventually her sister saw sense in her words. If she were sensible, she would agree with her. And Greypaw was sensible. Which meant she would agree with her, sooner rather than later. "Plus," Redpaw started again, as she nudged the other silvery apprentice towards a tree-line, "I bet there are cats out there who know a whole bunch more than we could ever imagine. Experience is not doing the same thing day in day out, waiting until TempestClan gets bored and decides to cause trouble again." Turning to gaze longingly towards the other edge of the territory, where the rocky outcrops gave way to the rising mountains beyond, she sighed, perhaps looking more awe-struck than she'd intended. "Experience is there." be the thelma to my louise and let's fly off that mountain together tags // Greypaw ☿ |
